Grrrr.

I spent some time this weekend changing the set up on my bike. Following suggestions from another forum (gasp!) I changed my chainring from a 52/39 to a compact 50/34. Fairly easy to do. Had a nice ride to a Sheffield bike shop following a new route that avoided the nastiest gradients. Only got lost once, but some nice people waiting for a bus set me back on the right track.

I did get rather wet though, as it chucked it down with rain. Was warm though, so overall it was quite pleasant.

I fitted it the next day, and managed to cure the problem I'd been having since changing the bearings in my rear axle. The chain had been catching on the front derailleur. Since I had to re-set that up anyway it all worked out well.

Then this morning, I didn't get to try it. I was late setting off for work and it started raining. The rain looked like it was set for the day, so I jumped in the car.
D1 and D2 saw me jumping in the car and begged a lift to school off me. Not something they get very often.

As I was giving them a goodbye kiss I banged my head on the ceiling in the car and managed somehow to twist my neck.

Then I got to work and the rain stopped and hasn't started again.

So, I didn't get to ride my bike.
I hurt my neck.
I've got too much to do and not enough time to do it in.

Bah.

Worst. Monday. Ever.

Waterproof cyclewear by nebbish (2.00 / 0) #1 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 11:03:17 AM EST
Is an an essential. Thing with summer is that although it rains a lot it doesn't get cold, so you don't want waste these precious months just because it's wet. If you're all waterproofed-up cycling in the rain is good fun as well.

I do have some, but it's a real pain. If I worked further away from home I'd use it more often, but taking 5 minutes to get togged up before I go, then 20 minutes to get changed, have a wash etc when I get to work isn't worth it for a 10 minute cycle trip.

That, my friend, is not a bad Monday. Not even close.

It's more of a slightly irritating Monday.

Bikes are teh evil. I fail it. by anonimouse (4.00 / 1) #4 Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 11:13:12 AM EST
I decided to replace the two tyres on Miss Minimouses bike over the weekend. It did not help that I managed to burst both innertubes in the process.
